untitled-aug5_23-09
MONUMENTAL OIL WITH ABSTRACT FIGURES SIGNED “ALANNA” (1990s)

An imposing untitled piece by an unknown modernist showcasing masks and segmented, Cubistic forms—that suggest artist mannequins, or possibly marionettes. The work employs a muted, trichromatic palette of earthy tones. Close inspection reveals a composition fraught with gesture, conjuring the odd ambivalence of a scene from one of Pinter’s “comedies of menace.” Signed simply “ALANNA” in block lettering en verso along one of the corner braces. Presented in a shallow floater frame.

DETAILS

Artist – UNKNOWN

Period/Year – 1990s

Origin – USA

Styles/Movements – POSTMODERN; CUBISM

Media – OIL

Support – CANVAS

Colors – ALABASTER, BRICK, GOLDENROD, BLACK

Condition – Excellent vintage condition.
